AGE. A good 10 years older than when the band started!!
INSTRUMENT. Alto Sax. Yanagisawa which was my first alto at about 17.
JOINED THE BAND. Day 1.
ANY FORMAL MUSICAL EDUCATION. Piano lessons from the age of 5, then clarinet and sax came later. Studied Jazz and Pop for three years in the bar at the City of Leeds College of Music, somehow graduating in 1994.
INFLUENCES OTHER THAN STEELY DAN. Bob Berg is my all time hero, but I listen to everything from Debussy & Mozart to Tom Waits via Count Basie and Michael Jackson. My CD collection is bizarre!!
FAVOURITE STEELY DAN SONG(S). Gaucho (without a doubt) along with Cousin Dupree, Pretzel Logic, Dr Wu (of course!) In fact, anything but Black Friday!!
FAVORITE NEARLY DAN MOMENT. Hard to say. We've had some great gigs since the band started. Probably Jazz Cafe gigs in London and the trip to Ireland which was wrapped in a suitable amount of booze.
PRE GIG DRINK / QUANTITY. Cider, being a Devonshire lass. Also quite keen on the odd tippleof brandy....but I know I can't drink AND play, so I tend to be well behaved at least til after the gig.
ESSENTIAL LISTENING. Anything by Bob Berg, Sting, Diane Schuur, Tom Waits (esp Small Change), Yellow Jackets, Toto, Bonnie Raitt...the list is endless and varied.Oh....and Free (who I must publicly appologise for saying were crap on first hearing.....sorry guys, I was very, very wrong!!)
COMMENT. "What if the hokey cokey IS really what it's all about" ?.?.?.?.?
